Choose where you can take responsibility.

These are appointed working and oversight roles. An expression of interest does not confer a title or authority. Describe your skills, availability and the work that interests you; the owner or an authorized administrator reviews the request within their permissions and jurisdiction.

The examples below help you prepare a contribution. They do not create new eligibility rules, minimum hours, professional credentials or adopted policy. Courses and blank templates are free to explore; training does not replace an appointment.

NATIONAL OFFICE

Secretary General

Nazir

A clear mandate, jurisdiction and boundaries

Federal / national

National work or coordination across regions, within the written mandate and granted permissions. A national role does not automatically open every record.

Provincial or territorial

Work within the authorized province or territory. Refer national or out-of-region matters to the appropriate lead rather than expanding your own mandate.

Region, riding or municipality

Describe this local focus in your experience. The form currently uses the two levels above; local work must fit an authorized mandate and does not create a third access level.

Responsibilities in practice

Open a role for duties, an example output, review boundaries and a first preparation task. Links open existing courses and blank templates; practise with fictional or public information.

Membership administration

Keep application review, member records and standing decisions understandable and traceable.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Check an application against the existing record; distinguish a new request, a duplicate and a correction before changing anything.
  • Record the decision, reasons and outstanding questions within your assigned jurisdiction; keep contact details and review notes private.

Typical deliverable

A review note identifying the application reference, current status, evidence considered, decision-maker and next action.

Collaboration and independent review

Coordinate with people administration on placement and with request administration on corrections. An application, proposed tier or payment plan does not activate membership; only authorized administrators make permitted status changes. Refer your own application to an uninvolved reviewer.

First preparation task

Using fictional details, draft a decision record for an incomplete application and list what must be clarified without collecting extra personal information.

Privacy & request administration

Route access, correction, privacy, accessibility and conduct requests to the appropriate authorized reviewer.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Record the request category, receipt date, relevant record reference and next step without reproducing unnecessary sensitive material.
  • Separate identity verification, factual correction and incident handling; raise uncertain authority or urgent concerns rather than promising an outcome.

Typical deliverable

A restricted request log with an assigned owner, documented response or referral and a clear closure reason.

Collaboration and independent review

Work with the relevant record owner and an uninvolved reviewer for complaints or conflicts. A request-management grant is separate from access to every underlying record; do not disclose third-party or privileged information through a public form.

First preparation task

Practise logging a fictional correction request with P-02, then identify which facts require verification and who may decide.

Choose this role →

Volunteer & people coordination

Match offered skills and availability to a defined task with support, feedback and a responsible next step.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Review expressed interests and existing records, clarify language and accessibility preferences, and propose a manageable first assignment.
  • Arrange practice and a review contact; document placement and any appointment-specific safeguards before requesting protected access.

Typical deliverable

A placement plan naming the task, supervisor, permitted access, support needs and review date.

Collaboration and independent review

Coordinate with research and regional leads; authorized administrators decide appointments and grants. Open research volunteering is free and separate from screening for protected roles. A workshop observation is feedback, not a professional credential or automatic clearance.

First preparation task

Build a fictional G-09 placement plan and use G-10 to record one demonstrated skill, one uncertainty and one next task.

Choose this role →

Research coordination

Turn a broad concern into a bounded research plan, with distinct research, review and release responsibilities.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Check for overlapping work; define the question, jurisdiction, exclusions, sources, owners and expected output before assignments begin.
  • Track evidence gaps and versions, arrange independent review, and keep draft findings separate from approved publication.

Typical deliverable

A scoped R-02 plan with assigned tasks, source priorities, review checkpoints and a recorded handover.

Collaboration and independent review

Researchers collect and explain evidence; reviewers control their own assessment. Coordinators resolve scope and record disagreements without rewriting an independent finding to fit a desired position. Internal assignments remain subject to existing project access.

First preparation task

Choose a public question and prepare an R-01 intake plus an R-02 plan with one exclusion and a contrary-evidence search.

Choose this role →

Evidence researcher

Build a source record that another person can check, including uncertainty and evidence that challenges your initial view.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Use primary sources where available; record the applicable version, exact passage and collection context rather than an unsupported summary.
  • Separate fact, allegation, interpretation and open question; preserve originals and keep annotations or redactions in working copies.

Typical deliverable

A source register and evidence matrix linking each finding to a precise source, contrary material and unresolved gaps.

Collaboration and independent review

Agree scope with the coordinator and provide reviewers with traceable records. Research does not authorize legal advice, public allegations or release of private material. Use the open research route for public contributions; protected projects require their own permission.

First preparation task

Take one public document, log its source in R-05, build two evidence rows in R-06 and note one limitation or contrary source.

Choose this role →

Independent review

Test a draft’s sources, reasoning and limitations without taking over the research or promising a preferred result.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Disclose relationships or prior involvement; agree a review question and identify records or expertise missing from the review.
  • Check exact citations, competing interpretations and material contrary evidence; distinguish correction requests from differences of judgment.

Typical deliverable

An R-15 review report with supported findings, limitations, unresolved disagreements and an R-16 correction trail.

Collaboration and independent review

Coordinate document access and deadlines with the research coordinator while retaining control of findings. Do not review your own work as independent, grant yourself access or treat review as permission to publish. Release remains a separate authorized decision.

First preparation task

Review a public or fictional evidence matrix: verify one citation, find one unsupported inference and write a proportionate correction.

Choose this role →

Communications & public education

Explain verified work in plain language while keeping sources, uncertainty, consent and approval visible.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Prepare notices, explainers or interview notes from a reviewed source package; distinguish an organizational position from a proposal or personal opinion.
  • Check English/French meaning, descriptive links, captions or alternatives and privacy; retain the approved version and correction history.

Typical deliverable

A sourced bilingual draft with a publication approval record and a list of remaining accessibility or factual issues.

Collaboration and independent review

Researchers check source fidelity, bilingual/accessibility reviewers check presentation, and an authorized person decides release. Writing or translating content does not confer spokesperson authority. Do not claim that a draft policy is adopted or that a review check was performed when it was not.

First preparation task

Write a short explainer from one public source; use C-01 and C-09 to list the checks and approvals still needed before publication.

Choose this role →

Government relations & advocacy

Prepare a precise, evidence-based request for the right decision-maker under a defined mandate.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Map the decision and jurisdiction, check the relevant consultation or meeting process, and assemble an approved briefing with contrary evidence.
  • Document contact, receipt, official-record inclusion and response separately; keep a named follow-up owner and an accurate record of outcomes.

Typical deliverable

An approved L-07 briefing, mandate reference and L-22 receipt/follow-up record rather than an unsupported claim of influence.

Collaboration and independent review

Coordinate with the authorized advocacy lead and research reviewers. Verify applicable lobbying rules and the written mandate before real contact; training does not itself authorize representation. Independent review must remain free to challenge the evidence. An acknowledgment is not agreement and silence is not an admission.

First preparation task

Use a fictional consultation to draft one supported request and an L-01 applicability check; rehearse without contacting an official.

Choose this role →

Regional or riding coordination

Connect local participation to a clear provincial or national assignment without expanding its authority.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Identify local questions and available skills, check for duplicate work and propose scoped tasks with language and accessibility support.
  • Maintain a concise activity and handover record; refer cross-region issues and requests outside your mandate to the appropriate lead.

Typical deliverable

A local activity plan linked to a written role mandate, task owners, review dates and an accurate meeting or follow-up record.

Collaboration and independent review

Work with the appointed provincial/territorial or national coordinator and preserve independent research review. The application currently offers national and provincial/territorial levels; describe a riding or municipal focus in your experience field. Local coordination does not create a separate elected office, national authority or speaking mandate.

First preparation task

Outline a fictional local activity with G-02 and G-09; for a municipal delegation, read the municipal lesson and identify the local process to verify.

Choose this role →

Finance & operations oversight

Prepare clear budgets, approval records and reconciliations while respecting systems that have not yet launched.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Distinguish a proposed budget, an authorized commitment and an actual transaction; retain the supporting approval and record reference.
  • Identify missing documentation, restrictions and variances; prepare reports that separate confirmed figures from estimates and unresolved items.

Typical deliverable

A draft budget/variance report and reconciliation checklist with evidence references, reviewer and outstanding items.

Collaboration and independent review

Work with the authorized treasury/operations decision-maker and an uninvolved reviewer; do not approve your own expense. These templates do not activate payment collection, banking, procurement or accounting integrations. Spending authority and any payment launch require their separate explicit approvals.

First preparation task

Using fictional amounts, complete an F-01 approval and an F-05 variance note; identify who authorizes, records and independently checks each step.

Choose this role →

Accessibility & bilingual participation

Make participation easier to understand and use across English, French, devices and access needs.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Compare meaning across language versions, check heading order and descriptive links, and identify missing captions, transcripts or image alternatives.
  • Check a task with keyboard and a narrow screen where possible; document the exact barrier, affected page and a practical correction.

Typical deliverable

A C-09 review with language checks, observed barriers, proposed fixes and clearly identified checks still outstanding.

Collaboration and independent review

Collaborate with content owners and people arranging participation; ask for only the information needed to support access. Source/legal reviewers retain responsibility for substance, and authorized owners decide publication. Translation does not authorize a new policy position or certify comprehensive accessibility compliance.

First preparation task

Review one public training page in both languages, record one meaning or navigation issue and propose a plain-language correction using C-09.

Choose this role →

Governance & accountability

Keep authority, decisions, conflicts and follow-up visible without treating proposed governance as already adopted.

Duties, boundaries and preparation

Practical responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate agendas, minutes and decision records; identify the responsible body, authority, reasons and action owners.
  • Track disclosed conflicts and recusals, define independent-review questions and flag missing authority or unresolved accountability concerns.

Typical deliverable

A decision/minutes package with mandate references, conflict handling, dissent where relevant and a reviewable action list.

Collaboration and independent review

Work with the authorized decision-maker, recorder and uninvolved reviewers. Record a decision accurately without conferring powers that do not exist. Draft policies, public polls and proposed representative structures do not become adopted rules or binding ballots through this role; independent reviewers control their findings.

First preparation task

Write fictional G-03 minutes and a G-01 decision record, identify one conflict and state which authority would be needed before action.

How appointment works

  1. 1. Describe your interestChoose a role family, province or territory and level. Describe skills, availability and relationships to disclose.
  2. 2. Authorized reviewThe owner or an authorized administrator considers experience, independence, needs and conflicts within their permitted jurisdiction.
  3. 3. Defined mandateIf selected, define the task, supervision, limits, jurisdiction and needed access in writing. Submission alone is not an appointment.
  4. 4. Role-specific preparationConfirm applicable training, confidentiality and conflict safeguards before protected-role activation. No universal hour requirement is set here.
  5. 5. Accountable accessUse only granted permissions. Record decisions and follow-up, seek independent review and revisit access when a role changes.

To start without an appointment, explore courses, templates and open research. Membership, volunteering and appointment are separate processes.
